The cup exhibits balanced body with sparkling acidity and a slight winy flavor. The coffee is grown in the Nyeri and Embu regions of Kenya at the base of Mount Kenya (17,000 ft.).

The cause is saving baby elephants.

Adult elephants are in constant danger of losing their tusks to manufacturers of trinkets. At least they are dead when the ivory is hacked from their heads by poachers.

Baby elephants risk a living hell in the hands of “trainers”. Under one pretext or another, they may be prematurely culled from their mothers and brought to training camps where they are often subjected to the most unusual and vicious treatment to subjugate them from existence in circuses or zoos.

My good friend and coffee guru, Jeremy Woods, has made a personal commitment to this crisis. Proceeds from the sales of this coffee are given directly to Daphne Sheldrick who is caring for 17 baby elephants in Nairobi. You can visit her program at www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org .
