]]> Our last open mic featured music (mostly), comedy and poetry. Newcomers included the duos Grace & Cavalier, and Troy & James. I got a chance to play some blues backup for comedian Perry Kurtz (I’m always happy to provide piano accomp for those that want it).

]]> Our February 12th Open Mic was another big shindig. Chuck provided us with 30 extra chairs, which were hugely appreciated, yay!

We had performances from Jones regulars Orlando, James, Sylvia, Alissa, Rylan & Katie, Mike & Sean, and me. Dennis, Denise, Craig and Aaron came back to perform for a second time. We heard from newcomers Beatrice, Sabrina, Liz, Jimmy, Erica and Troyel. Our largest slate of performers yet!

Our next Open Mic at Jones Coffee Roasters will be held Friday, March 12th. Performers can sign up at 7pm, or by emailing me at openmic@jonescoffeecompany.com. Performances start at 7:30 – maybe a little earlier if we get a lot of people.

]]> I just got back from the January 8th Open Mic, our 5th monthly event at Jones Coffee, and it was by far the biggest. Performers sign up at 7pm, and by 7:20, we had run out of slots – for a total of 14 performers. There was some amazing talent on display tonight, including a number of exceptional newcomers. There was so much raw talent on display that I had to cut short my own set to make room. I guess there’s always next month!
