Mireya Asturias Jones
Mireya Asturias Jones is the CEO of Doña Mireya Estate Coffee, the importing arm of the business, and Jones Coffee Roasters with offices in Pasadena. She studied at UC Berkeley and went on to work and volunteer in very diverse areas. She worked in medicine, fundraising, radio broadcasting, marketing and PR. She developed a line of hand-woven fabrics from Guatemala, designing and importing them under the company name, Colección Mireya. Mireya has served on the Boards of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Museum of Latin American Art, the Pasadena Junior Philharmonic and the Specialty Coffee Association of America. She presently serves on the Boards of CARES, the support group for LA County-USC Medical Center and Musica Angelica, Los Angeles’ Baroque Orchestra. She is the founding Chair of the US Barista Championship Committee and the World Barista Championship Board. She is a member of the International Women in Coffee, the Women in Coffee Leadership Program and the Women in Coffee of Guatemala. She spends as much time as possible in her native Guatemala.
